TOPICS THAT ARE FREQUENTLY ASKED IN UPSC PRELIMS EXAM

This article is based on analysis of previous years’ question papers of UPSC PRELIMS exams and enlists all the priority areas from which questions are asked in Prelims exam. This is the strategy followed by most consistent high scorers in Prelims and hence there are certain students who repeatedly get through Prelims clearing even high cut offs.

The UPSC Prelims exam is considered one of the most unpredictable exams in the world. While true to a large extent, it’s a fact that if one analyzes the question papers of over a decade we find that there are certain focus areas from which UPSC repeatedly asks questions. In Prelims 2023 examination we found the pattern to be correct as many questions appeared from those focus areas. Most coaching institutes are competing to provide everything they can cover in the form of daily current affairs capsules, monthly compilations, summaries of conventional topics, etc. They do not tell students the priority areas to focus on. This burdens the students unnecessarily and they try to cover as much as possible, without prioritizing the topics.

IASNOVA is different. We do not cover the entire syllabus or provide lots of content. We believe that we just need to provide the right guidance regarding the syllabus and provide the content we consider the most important and most probable for UPSC Prelims examinations.

We are listing topics here based on the highest ROI in the Prelims exam. Both conventional and current based topics are covered in the list. All these topics have been selected based on analysis of prelims question papers of the last 10 years. These topics are favorite topics of UPSC Prelims question paper makers and they usually appear every year. Questions from all these topics may not appear in a single year but some topics may appear every year.

It’s important to note that current affairs related to these topics should be prepared well for scoring well in the Prelims exam.
