HISTORY REVISION STRATEGY

Enlisting important chapters in History is a difficult task as the questions can be asked from anywhere in the vast syllabus. Though the whole syllabus should be completed by aspirants, we are providing list of the most important chapters from NCERT  based on past questions’ analysis-

ANCIENT INDIA

NCERT- Most Important Chapters

  1. Indus Valley Civilization
  2. Advent of the Aryans and the Age of Rig Veda
  3. The Later Vedic Phase : Transition to State and Social Formation
  4. Jainism and Buddhism
  5. Significance  of the Maurya Rule
  6. Central Asian Contacts and Their Results
  7. Life in the Gupta Age
  8. India’s Cultural Contact with the Asian Countries
  9. Philosophy In Ancient India
  10. Transformation of the Ancient Phase
  11. Sequence of Social Changes
  12. Science and Civilization

The ones in Bold are very important.

Philosophy topics should be supplemented by some other source.

Questions on Jainism and Buddhism  cannot be always answered only from NCERT.But the first point of completion and revision should be NCERT.

Medieval India

Medieval India questions appear from any chapter.But few important topics which should be done necessarily are-

Bhakti and Sufi Movement– This topic should be done from NCERT and one more detailed source.

Deccan and South India, Vijaynagara Kingdom

Administration during Important Mughal Rulers – Related terminologies.

Economic and Social and Cultural Developments under the Mughals

Modern India

Whole syllabus is important as most of the questions in History come from Modern India.Still,some trends which are important-

– Social Reforms

– 1857 First War of Independence

– All the Movements- Swadeshi, Non-Cooperation,Civil  Disobedience, Quit India etc

– Councils and Govt of India Acts.

– Various Policies brought by different Governor Generals and Viceroys- Eg- Doctrine of Lapse,Subsidiary Alliances , etc

– Cabinet Mission, Cripps mission, Mountbatten Plan etc

 

Once again,we emphasise the fact that whole of Medieval India should be done nicely as questions can appear from any part.
